We spent the night at the Walnut Creek Marriott, so we decided to walk here for dinner since it was a walkable distance (~0.3 miles). Service was good and food was delicious. The portion size is a little small for the price especially for a Chinese restaurant. They do charge you per person for hot tea (Jasmine), so if you are not a big tea drinker, you might want to pass. They have some specialty dim sum items they a wait staff might bring by to sell you. Today they mentioned they had lobster as well. The restaurant was nicely decorated and business was decent for a Saturday evening. They have a dim sum menu and a separate entrees menu. Overall, a good place for basic dim sum items and Chinese food. I just wish the portions were a little bigger for the entrees.
Overview
Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant at 1291 Parkside Dr, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, United States, has become my go-to spot for authentic Cantonese flavors that feel both traditional and comforting. From the moment you walk in, the warm lighting and neatly arranged tables set a relaxed, inviting atmosphere, perfect for brunch with friends or family dinners. One thing that immediately stood out during my first visit was the efficiency of the staff-they manage a busy floor without ever making you feel rushed, which makes the dining experience feel personal and enjoyable.
The menu at Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant is expansive, offering everything from delicate har gow to flavorful pork buns. One of my favorite dishes is the siu mai, where each bite bursts with juicy pork and shrimp, accompanied by a hint of ginger that enhances the natural flavors. I noticed a couple next to me ordering a variety of steamed dumplings, and they shared how the freshness of each item reminded them of their trips to Hong Kong. Such reactions are common here; diners frequently comment in reviews about the consistent quality and authentic taste that transports you straight to traditional dim sum parlors.
In terms of process, I observed the kitchenโs meticulous preparation firsthand. The chefs at Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant maintain a strict schedule for steaming each basket, ensuring that dumplings retain their softness while the fillings remain moist and flavorful. They even make many of the doughs and sauces in-house, which is something not every dim sum spot in Walnut Creek offers. According to a study by the National Restaurant Association, diners increasingly value restaurants that prioritize fresh, made-from-scratch components, and Creek House certainly aligns with this trend, reflecting both expertise and attention to detail.
Iโve returned multiple times and tried a mix of fried and steamed items, like the crispy spring rolls and chive dumplings. Each dish consistently delivers the perfect balance of texture and flavor. Whatโs particularly impressive is the restaurantโs ability to cater to both newcomers and dim sum enthusiasts. While I enjoy exploring unique dishes like steamed tripe with ginger, Iโve noticed that first-time visitors often rave about the approachable flavors of char siu bao and shrimp dumplings, making the menu accessible without compromising authenticity.
The location at 1291 Parkside Dr is convenient, with ample parking and a welcoming exterior that signals a comfortable dining experience. Walnut Creek has several restaurants, but Creek House stands out for its blend of professional execution and a cozy, friendly environment. During busy weekends, the restaurant manages to maintain smooth service thanks to an experienced staff and efficient table management. Itโs clear that the management values both customer satisfaction and culinary precision, creating a trustworthy reputation among locals and visitors alike.
What also sets this restaurant apart is how it stays updated with customer preferences. Seasonal specials, occasional new menu items, and attentive staff feedback show a commitment to evolving without losing the essence of traditional dim sum. According to multiple customer reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor, diners frequently praise the restaurant for balancing innovation with tradition, which reflects deep expertise in the art of Cantonese cuisine.
Whether youโre coming for a casual brunch or a family gathering, Creek House Dim Sum Restaurant delivers a comprehensive experience that combines flavor, atmosphere, and excellent service. My personal experiences, paired with the consistent feedback from other diners, illustrate why this location is a staple in Walnut Creekโs culinary scene. From the moment the first basket of dumplings arrives at your table, youโre treated to a showcase of skill, freshness, and authentic taste that keeps you coming back for more.

Solid dim sum up in walnut creek area Lots of asians here so must be a good sign haha It has solid cheung fun and har gao which are the staples Service was not bad for dim sum Parking may be hard but down the lot frees up a bit
The food was good. It wasn't too crowded, and the service was nice. I loved the fried rice and the scallion pancakes, but everything else was good too.
8/26/2025 Update. Consistently good. The owner even let us try her special dish not found on their menu. Delicious, fast, efficient, and friendly. It's like dining at your favorite aunt's house for some Asian comfort food.
I was at Portuguese cooking class in Lisbon when I learnt of this place in my very own backyard from a fellow participant. She highly recommended it and now I highly recommend itโฆ Food absolutely amazing, the best dim sum place I have been to in the Bay Area. Quantity and quality and price factor is biggest winโฆ Warm and friendly staff. Do not expect a fine dining ambience, itโs a decent sized clean place.. I was so focused on food that I forgot to click pictures โฆ
We got har gao, turnip cake, beef rice rolled noodles and a kabocha and egg yolk dish and everything was excellent. The service and the food were also excellent. I think it might be my favorite dim sum that Iโve had in the east bay. I saw some people complaining about the price here but I think theyโre meant to be eating at Panda Express.
